    • Bus Transportation Policy
School District policy 6.10 "Transportation of Students to Schools and from Schools" (view the entire policy here); the purpose of this policy is to define the circumstances and conditions under which transportation to and from school will be provided for Abbotsford School District (No.34) students. This section sets walk limits for catchment students, and provides guidelines for student conduct, supervision, and discipline.
    • Eligibility for Transportation
The Board of Education will, where practical, transport students based on the following criteria:
Elementary and Middle students living more than 4.0 kilometers from the nearest school (via the shortest possible road or maintained walkway) will be transported free of charge.
Secondary students living more than 4.8 kilometers from the nearest school (via the shortest possible road or maintained walkway) will be transported free of charge.
      • Students must apply for bussing and may be assessed a fee.
      • Bussing may be provided to students who attend District Programs and Choice schools using district personnel and equipment, on a cost-recovery basis. This applies to voluntary attendance at a Choice school for cross-boundary or out of catchment students
      • 'Courtesy riders' - students who are not eligible for transportation under Section 1 of the policy are assigned seating on an existing route where seating is available. Such riders will be charged a fee.
    • Procedures & Forms
There is now one form to use for requesting transportation (click here.)  On this form you can choose:
-- Choice Bus request for students attending a School of Choice or a School outside the School Boundary in which they reside; OR
-- Non-Eligible Bus request for students attending their Catchment School, however, live with in the walk limits posted by the School Board; OR
--Eligible Rider Bus request for students attending their Catchment School and living beyond the walk limits posted by the School Board.
